Dear Mayor,
The experts have not been able to show significant lasting success rates for these addicts yet City Hall is building this facility at 41st & Fraser, in a working class neighbourhood where residents had huge concerns about the safety of their children, their elders, the increase crime and violence in their neighbourhoods, and the increase for businesses in the area. Not only that, you blatantly disregarded that the children that go to John Oliver High School, (a high risk school already) and an elementary school, are only 1/2 block away from the drug addict housing!
This decision to spread drug addict housing all over the city will have a very negative effect in many neighbourhoods in Vancouver for decades to come! City Hall has arrogantly disregarded any of the of the Fraser Street residents legitimate concerns and is recklessly building a facility with no proven medical evidence that it will work.
Furthermore, you are putting the hard-working working class people of the Fraser Street neighbourhood at risk!!! YOU, and your city councillors actions are UNCONSCIONABLE!!! This is a cheap attempt to clean out the Downtown Eastside so Developers can make hundreds of millions of dollars developing high end condos for 2010!
